The reception celebrating 100 years of Poland’s independence was held in Erbil’s Rotana Hotel. It was opened by Mr. Dominik Musiał, Head of the Consular Agency of Poland in Erbil and Mr. Falah Mustafa, Head of the Department of Foreign Relations in the Kurdistan Regional Government.

We were glad and honoured to see so many representatives of local authorities, diplomatic corps, Polish-Iraqi and Polish-Kurdish associations, religious leaders, Polish residents of Iraq (including Kurdistan Region) and other friends of Poland and supporters of our mutual cooperation.

At the beginning of the event we also presented a short documentary film about Poland’s road to independence in 1918, put into historical context. Two Polish cosmetics companies, present on the local market advertised their products and beauty centres. Among the food items served at the reception one could find traditional Polish cabbage rolls. Publications about Poland and its democratic transition were also available.
